I received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Percussion from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, studying with Fred Buda, Alan Dawson and Lou Magnano. After graduation, I spent 3 1/2 years in the US Navy Unit Band in Naples, Italy performing public relations concerts and ceremonies throughout the Mediterranean and Europe for the US Government and NATO. I collaborated on several projects with Italian percussion artist Emilio De Biase. While in Naples I earned my Masters of Education from Boston University.
After the Navy I lived in the Boston area for 16 years, playing throughout New England, teaching, and working for the Zildjian Cymbal Company. I am currently teaching and playing in various jazz, rock, concert bands, and orchestras in Central/Northern New York and Pennsylvania. I have performed in over 90 pit bands for a variety of musicals.
I have been teaching since 1966 and am the author of two snare drum/drumset books as well as a variety of instructional materials for the Zildjian Cymbal Company. My former students have performed with Tavares, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and Gym Class Heroes.
